Getting Around Keningau



Bus

Travellers can use minibuses to travel from one place to another. There are quite a number of bus stops that can be found along the road, and prices may vary depending on the distance. Be warned that these minibuses will not leave until they are full; so be prepared to wait and share your ride with strangers.

Most hotels in Keningau can arrange for transport from the airport either at a fee or as part of the hotel rate. Please contact the hotel before arrival to make arrangements.

E-Hailing Services

The mobile app, 'Maxim' and 'GrabCar' are available in Keningau, and users can download the GrabCar app on their mobile phone to get around Keningau City more easily. Prices will vary depending on the distance you travel to.

West Malaysia to Keningau

There are no direct flights between Kuala Lumpur and Keningau. However, you can take a flight from Kuala Lumpur International Airport, fly to Kota Kinabalu, and then take a taxi to Keningau. Alternatively, you can take a flight from the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang to Kota Kinabalu, and then take a taxi to Keningau price ranging from RM220 to RM270.

Sarawak to Keningau

From Kuching

Sabah to Keningau

Kota Kinabalu to Keningau

The distance between Kota Kinabalu and Keningau is about 109.0km.

There are four ways to get to Keningau from Kota Kinabalu – by bus, train, car or taxi.

If you choose to go by bus, it will cost only RM15 and is a roughly 3-hour ride. Catch a bus from the Kota Kinabalu Bas Bandaran and you will end up at Tung Ma Station Keningau. Do not worry about bus availability as there are multiple operators to service this route.

You can also take a drive to Keningau from Kota Kinabalu as roads are available. Keningau is 108 kilometres from Kota Kinabalu and your drive will be, give or take, 2 hours.

If you do not have a car and prefer to travel in relative comfort, taxis are also available. A one-way trip is priced starting from RM190.

Another option would be via train. You will board the train at Semnula Station in Kota Kinabalu and arrive at Kimanis Station. This train leaves daily. From Kimanis Station, you will have to grab a taxi for the remaining 65 kilometres and the said taxi will bring you to Keningau.
